Most people using Roger Snow’s Hemp Hearts are doing so to improve their health and in most cases to some degree this includes weight loss.  For some people looking to boost their energy levels by using hemp hearts weight loss may be a crucial first step.

Roger says, “People call me sometimes and they’ll say, ‘Oh, I’ve been eating these hemp hearts for a week now and I don’t notice an abundance of energy.  They were supposed to give me an abundance of energy.’  So I’ll start asking a few questions.

‘How heavy are you?’

And he’ll say, ‘I’m 350 pounds.’

‘How tall are you?’

He’ll say, ‘I’m 6 feet tall.’

‘How old were you when you first reached 6 feet?’

And he’ll say, ‘I was 14 or 15.’

‘How heavy were you then?’

‘I was 150lbs.’

So I’ll say, ‘So you’re 200 pounds heavier than when you reached full size.  That means that when you get out of bed every morning, you’re lifting a 200 pound tool box out of bed along with yourself and then you’re packing that 200 pound tool box everywhere you go all day, up and down stairs, in and out of the car. Everything you do you’re packing a 200 pound tool box.  That’s a pretty big tool box to be packing around.  Now, you expect that a few tablespoons of hemp hearts to be able to do that for you and then make you feel like you have an abundance of energy besides?

“You might have to lose a few pounds first before you’ll notice an abundance of energy and hemp hearts can do that for you.”

Avoiding Traps

Roger knows from personal experience how difficult it is to lose weight and several of the traps that keep us there.  He says, “One of the traps that makes people fat, is they think that if they eat larger portions, they’ll be able to go longer without eating.  That’s what I did.  Eventually, I noticed, ‘No.  I’m actually weak and I’m actually hungry every 2 hours and I’m eating huge portions.’

  • Rather than eating more food, eat foods that will satisfy your hunger longer, such as proteins and hemp hearts.
  • Gradually reduce your portions, so that it begins to take less to make you full.

Another trap is that we try to cut back on our consumption by skipping breakfast.  Bad idea.  “Eventually people succumb to their hunger and because when they succumb they’re just starving, they always look for something that is huge, like carbs or sugars, to give them the big boost of energy they desperately need.”

  • Eat well in the mornings and cut back consumption in the afternoons and evenings when you are less active and burn less calories.

What you eat is a big trap in itself.  Eating carbohydrates, like bread, potatoes, pasta and rice, only fuels our bodies for a short time and leaves them feeling desperate for food soon after.  Eating sugars and caffeine to keep us going, gives us the energy boost we need, but leaves our bodies feeling weak and desperate for the next fix.

  • Again, avoid energy boosters and eat food that satisfies hunger longer in the first place.
  • Don’t go so long between eating that you feel desperate for something quick (and usually unhealthy).
  • If you do need something to tide you over, don’t go for something that’s going to send you on an energy roller coaster.  Have a big pot of tea.  Eat vegetables which are ready to eat like carrots or peas.  Grab a piece of fruit.

Doing Something about It

There’s no need to beat yourself up about being overweight.  According to Roger, most people in our society put on a few or more pounds each year.  The question is what are you going to do about it today?  If you want to drop your tool box quickly, Roger recommends the following things:

  • Again, eat more in the morning and less at night.
  • Eat enough hemp hearts at breakfast so that you don’t feel hungry at lunch, and then skip lunch.  Roger says, “If you eat 4 tablespoons of hemp hearts at breakfast with whatever you like for breakfast and you’re hungry at lunchtime then eat 5.  And if you eat 5 and you’re still really hungry at lunch time, then eat 6. Eat enough hemp hearts in the morning so that you are not hungry at lunchtime because people who can get past lunch without eating are going to find it easy to lose weight.”
  • If you start to get hungry before dinner, have a large pot of tea to tide you over.
  • Have a big vegetable salad with no dressing or croutons for dinner.

If you eat this way, you will have an even flow of energy throughout the day, and you will lose a pound or more a day.  Roger lost his 90 pound tool box eating this way for 10 days and then taking a break for a few days.  If he did it, so can you!
